This page will explore the function of myth: in society, in culture, in literature, and in our own lives.
Myth Purpose
Myths have been around for centuries and can be traced back to the caveman but what was the point of all these stories? Myths have many purposes. They are there to entertain us, teach us lessons, explain the unexplainable, and help us understand things. Myths are a big part of life. Even though we don't realize it they are very important.
Myths teach us many of the basic lessons in life. **The Rabbit in the moon** teaches us that sometimes we need to put others needs before our own. The story of **little one-inch** teaches us that it doesn't matter how big we are, it's what's inside that counts. **Why the jellyfish has no bones** teaches us that revenge isn't a good thing. So as you can see, the myths that we pass down from generation to generation have meaning.
Myths are very important in our lives because they teach us lessons but they also entertain us. As children our parents tell us myths and stories all the time and they aren't just to teach us a lesson, but to entertain us. Myths can be very interesting, especially to children. And as kids we enjoy hearing these stories because they help to expand our imaginations.
Myths play very important roles in our lives.
